• Even faster time to market
• Saves valuable resources
• Enhanced designer’s prototyping environment
• Enables even richer more engaging experiences
• Improves overall Ux of end products
Version 2.6 of our SpectraWorks™ GUI tools adds new features that enhance
workflow efficiency while using fewer system resources, allowing you to “do
more with less.” You’re able to transform low-memory, small CPU devices such as
digital cameras and household appliances into products that can deliver highly
engaging user experiences.
Rich Text Formatting for Widgets
Our SpectraBuilder™ design tool now offers
two ways to specify font attributes and formatting. We’ve introduced a new
string editor that allows you to apply font attributes to a single text string,
or even a portion of a text string, within a widget. You can quickly and easily
apply rich text formatting such as bold, depressed, drop shadow, glow, italic
and outline to any UI design. Our properties editor, which applies font
attributes across your entire widget, is still the default text editor in
SpectraBuilder. However, the string editor can easily override the properties
editor when necessary.
Along with the text rendering capabilities of Monotype Imaging’s
iType® font engine, CATT™ (Compact Asian
Technology for TrueType®) fonts and East Asian
stroke-based fonts, Edge™ Technology and
WorldType Shaper, our new rich-text formatting
widgets bring unprecedented design control and quality to any design with the
smallest footprint possible.
SpectraWorks Visual Effects
Our brand new visual effects library offers professional, value-add modules for
easily including popular UI paradigms, such as slide, turn, fade, spin and
scale. In addition, you can now integrate advanced menu effects, such as a
carousel, where images appear as if they’re sitting on a rotating disc. Each
module includes both SpectraBuilder design files and Visual Studio® source code
level project files that can be used quickly and customized as needed.

Project Starter
Built into SpectraBuilder, ProjectStarter gives your design and engineering
teams more ways to communicate with each other and to quickly and easily start
building and executing your Windows® PC platform prototype. ProjectStarter lets
your design team generate “C” code application “plumbing” and Visual Studio
2005 project files based on the design UI components. These files can be used
immediately by the engineering team to begin coding the personality of the
device UI. With SpectraWorks, the finished design and application move
seamlessly to the target platform, resulting in an overall quicker time to
market.
Text Bounds Checker
Text Bounds Checker detects text strings that overrun the bounds of a UI widget
and cause display issues that would otherwise go undetected until the UI widget
is executed. By highlighting the offending text strings, they can be edited
during the initial design process, saving valuable time and resources.
New multilingual evaluation font
Many product developers are unsure about fonts or are unaware that fonts
included in the Windows operating system cannot be used. Monotype Imaging is a
leader in providing a vast array of high-quality, multilingual fonts that have
been tuned for optimal display and compressed to fit in a small device
footprint. We're pleased to offer a multilingual font for evaluation as part of
our free, 30-day trial program. When requesting an evaluation key for the
SpectraWorks trial software, you will be asked to select the required language
support (Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, Japanese, or Korean). You
will then be provided with a high-quality, multilingual font to load and try
with your SpectraWorks trial software.
